Signal Film & Media

An award-winning charity providing creative film and digital media activities based in Barrow-in-Furness.

Since 2001 we have provided a unique resource for 1000’s of people of all ages and backgrounds to access free facilities, professional tutoring and hands-on experience in film and creative digital media.

We offer regular events with artists and filmmakers, workshops, screenings and exhibitions support a vibrant film and arts culture in the area, and are a selected provider of the British Film Institute’s national Film Academy.

As an artist-led company we have a substantial track record of producing award-winning films for exhibition, broadcast and the commercial sector.

Theatre Factory

Formally the The Ashton Group, Theatre Factory is a place and a programme of theatre activity by, for and with young people in the Furness Peninsula.

Theatre Factory works in many forms: theatre (indoors, outdoors and online), animation, writing, digital and sound. 

To make stories in collaboration with children, young people and the occasional adult which are shared locally and regionally from our home in Barrow-in-Furness.

Free Spirit Academy of Dance & Acrobatics

Founded in 2016 by Rosie Hawkins & Charlene Marks-Walker, after individually providing separate small community classes.

They met when Charlene invited Rosie to a baby-wearing dance class that had just launched. They bonded over dance goals, dreams and their vision of a larger school for the community that would professionally train dancers from a young age, with the focus on technique and examinations.

Furness Multicultural Community Forum & Youth Club

Is a growing charity constituted in 2003, based in Barrow-In-Furness and deliver community engagement activities, events, support and advocacy, training and youth work in the Furness area.

Sir John Fisher Foundation

The Sir John Fisher Foundation is a charitable trust (UK registered charity number 277844), established in 1980 by Sir John and Lady Maria Fisher. The Foundation’s objective is to distribute its income to charitable causes, throughout the UK, but with special regard to those based in and working for the benefit of people living in Barrow-in-Furness and the Furness Peninsula.

The Foundation supports charitable causes particularly in the six categories of Maritime, Medical, Education, Music, Arts and Community projects.
